III Exam Registration 2026: Last Dates + Step-by-Step Guide
Registering for the III exam online is the first real step toward your Licentiate, Associateship or Fellowship qualification — and it trips up more candidates than the exam itself. Miss a document, pick the wrong paper, or leave it until the last day, and you can lose an entire exam cycle. This guide walks you through the whole III exam registration process for 2026, so you can book your seat with confidence.
Who conducts the exam?
All professional exams are run by the Insurance Institute of India (III), Mumbai. Booking, fee payment, admit cards and results are handled through the III's official member portal — not through any coaching site or third party. Always start and finish your registration on the institute's own website.
Before you begin: what you need ready
Have these on hand before you open the registration form:
- Your III membership / student login (if you are new, you'll create a member account first).
- A scanned photo and signature in the sizes the portal specifies.
- Your qualification details (for eligibility).
- A working email and mobile number — your admit card and updates go here.
- A debit/credit card, UPI or net-banking for the fee.

Step-by-step: registering online
- Create or log in to your member account. New candidates enrol as a member/student; existing members simply sign in.
- Open the exam enrolment section and select the level you are sitting — Licentiate, Associateship or Fellowship.
- Choose your papers. For Licentiate you'll pick the compulsory papers for your stream (life or general) plus any optional you need for credits. Not sure? See how III credit points work.
- Fill in your details and upload your photo and signature exactly as specified.
- Select your exam centre (city). You choose your centre here, at enrolment — not later at slot booking. It can only be changed up to the last date of enrolment, so get it right now.
- Pay the paper enrolment fee online and save the payment receipt. The fee is ₹600, ₹900 or ₹1,100 per paper depending on its credit points, plus applicable taxes — see the full III fee table.
- Come back in the slot-booking window to book your date and time. This is a separate step, several weeks after enrolment, and enrolling does not book you a seat. It is first come, first served, and you will only be offered the centre you already chose.
- Download your hall ticket at the end of slot booking. Print it or keep it accessible on exam day, with valid photo ID.
Documents and photo specifications
The portal is strict about file formats and dimensions. Upload a recent passport-style photo on a plain background and a clear signature on white paper. If a file is rejected, resize it rather than re-uploading the same one — mismatched dimensions are the single most common cause of a failed submission.
Registration windows and last dates
III runs four exam sessions a year, and enrolment for each opens on the 5th and closes on the 15th of the month three months before the exam:

There is no late-fee enrolment for online examinations. The old offline system had a paid grace period; the online one does not, so the 15th is a hard stop — miss it and you wait for the next session.

Dates and fees are set by III and its published calendar is described as tentative — confirm on the official III website before you pay. As a rule, register well before the deadline: last-day server rushes and payment failures are avoidable stress.
