What is the III Licentiate?
The Licentiate is the foundation level of the Insurance Institute of India (III) professional certification. It is the first of three levels — Licentiate, Associateship and Fellowship — earned through a credit-point system. You qualify for the Licentiate by earning 60 credit points.
Which papers do I need for the Licentiate?
Two compulsory papers: IC-01 Principles of Insurance, plus one practice paper for your stream — IC-02 Practice of Life Insurance or IC-11 Practice of General Insurance. Together they give 40 credits; you top up to 60 with one optional paper, for example IC-14 Regulations of Insurance Business.
What is the exam format and pass mark?
Each paper is an online multiple-choice exam of 120 minutes for 100 marks. You need 60% to pass, and 75% or above earns a distinction. There is no negative marking and a calculator is allowed. Always confirm the current format against the latest III notification.
Is Certena free for Licentiate preparation?
Yes — you can practise Licentiate questions and take mock tests for free. Certena Pro is an optional upgrade (₹899/month or ₹2,999/year) for unlimited mock exams across every subject.
Is Certena affiliated with III or IRDAI?
No. Certena is an independent exam-preparation tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to the Insurance Institute of India (III) or IRDAI.
